Counseling Hispanics through Loss, Grief, and Bereavement” is an excellent resource for those work with death, dying and bereavement. As a trauma chaplain working in a Level 1 trauma center hospital, I have found this book to be invaluable in helping me understand some important cultural nuances, allowing me to effectively provide sensitive and appropriate care to the bereaved. Ligia Houben should be commended on her work with this book. I highly recommend it!
Counseling Hispanics through Loss, Grief, and Bereavement is an extremely timely and welcome addition to the literature in thanatology. Counselors will find in it the tools, knowledge, and insights to respond to a growing and diverse Hispanic community as individuals cope with loss and grief.
